ABOUT RENé RAFAEL PINTO

Professional back catcher that was originally signed by the Tampa Bay Rays as an international free agent in 2013. Nearly ten years later, he was named one of the Rays' top 100 MLB prospects following the 2021 minor league season. In addition to the majors, he has also played professionally in the Venezuelan Professional Baseball League.

He first began his professional career playing for the VSL Rays. He was only 17 years old at the time of his debut.

He made his official major league debut playing against the Seattle Mariners on April 26, 2022. He finished his first MLB game going 2 for 3.

Growing up, he lived with his family in Maracay, Venezuela. His father, René Sr, was a former baseball player in the New York Yankees organization.

He played alongside Brandon Lowe during his MLB debut.
