Guitarist and music arranger who recorded R&B and rock & roll hits for Motown, RCA Records, and other labels. He is known for having worked many times with legends, Bobby Womack and Sam Cooke .

His first musical gig was as a New Orleans-based banjo player. Later, he traveled around the United States as a member of the Ernie Fields Orchestra.

He is most famous for his instrumental song, Twitchy, which included single-string guitar solos.

He was born in Morgan City, Louisiana, and his music career later took him to both New York City and Los Angeles.

He played guitar for singer Marvin Gaye 's hit song, Let's Get It On.
