He had to wear a brace for most of his childhood due to a bone disease.
He competed on the Champions Tour and in the United States Senior Open after retiring.
He married Leslie Rhoden in 1980.
He was teammates with Bobby Bonilla on the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1985 to 1986.
