ABOUT ROBERT CRICHTON

An American writer whose work focuses on the escapades of real-life con-artist Fred Demara, he is best known for The Great Impostor and The Rascal and the Road. His other novels include The Secret of Santa Vittoria and The Camerons.

He was born in New Mexico and raised in New York. During the late 1940s, he attended Harvard University on the GI Bill.

He was wounded during the Battle of the Bulge in World War II.

He married Judy Crichton; they had four children.

His 1959 book, The Great Impostor, was made into a film starring Tony Curtis .
