He was married seven times: to Sharon Hugueny (1961), then to Camilla Sparv (1963), then to Ali MacGraw (1969), then to Phyllis George (1977), then to Catherine Oxenberg (1998), then to Leslie Ann Woodward (2002), and then to Victoria White (2005). His son is producer Josh Evans .
He collaborated on Chinatown with Jack Nicholson .
