ABOUT ROBERT LAX
Twentieth-century American minimalist poet who is best known for Circus of the Sun. He also wrote for such magazines as Time and The New Yorker.
He wrote for Jester, a humorous college publication, during his time at Columbia University.
He lived on Patmos and other Greek islands for much of his later life.
He was the child of Rebecca and Sigmund Lax and was born in the town of Olean, New York.
He had a long literary correspondence with lifetime friend and Columbia University classmate Thomas Merton . Merton was a Trappist monk, author, and philosopher.
