Best recognized as the father of international rap superstar Nicki Minaj .

He and his wife Carol Maraj moved their family from Trinidad and Tobago to Queens, New York when Nicki was five years old.

He was a financial executive and part-time gospel singer.

In addition to Nicki, he had two other children, a son named Jelani and a daughter named Ming . He passed away at age 64 due to a hit-and-run.

His daughter had a two-year relationship with rapper Meek Mill from 2015 to early 2017.
