ABOUT ROBERT POPWELL
Jazz-funk musician who played bass guitar with The Crusaders, The Macon Rhythm Section, and The Young Rascals. He has also acted, starring in the Rick Springfield film Hard to Hold.
He performed early in his career on Doris Duke's 1969 album, I'm a Loser. He went on to play on the Johnny Jenkins self-titled LP in 1970.
He went on tour with both Olivia Newton-John and Bette Midler , and he also performed with such well-known musicians as Bob Dylan , B.B. King, and Greg Allman.
He was born in Daytona, Florida and later settled in Nashville, Tennessee. He fathered three daughters.
He played on singer Aretha Franklin 's Young, Gifted, and Black (1972) and Amazing Grace (1972) albums.
