ABOUT ROBERT TROUT

Radio reporter of the 1930s and 1940s who pioneered many of now staple parts of news broadcasts.

He began as an announcer of a local Alexandria, Virginia's WJSV, and he joined CBS after the network acquired the station.

In the pre-television era, he was CBS's first anchor man, holding forth from the studio headquarters while corresponding with reports stations around Europe.

He was born Robert Albert Blondheim in Washington, D.C.

He was a key influence of the reporting style of Edward R. Murrow .
