ABOUT RODOLFO GONZALES
Professional boxer who was a featherweight champion and won both the Golden Gloves and National Amateur Athletic Union titles. He was also a Chicano activist and poet.
He entered boxing after it became clear that he would not be able to afford college.
He wrote the poem 'Yo Soy Joaquin,' which has been said to define the essence of being Chicano.
He was the child of Federico and Indalesia Gonzalez, along with seven other siblings.
He was a part of the Chicano Movement like Cesar Chavez .
