Considered one of the best batsman of the 1960s, he played for the West Indies national team in 79 matches.

His first test debut as a member of the West Indies national team came in 1957.

He played for a number of domestic teams such as British Guiana, Warwickshire, and Tasmania.

He was born in Port Mourant, British Guiana.

He was a Guyanese athlete like Vivian Harris .
