ABOUT ROYSTON ELLIS

British poet and author whose Beat poetry-inspired collections include Rave and Jiving To Gyp.

He sparked controversy by making scandalous comments about teenage life on a British television program called "Living for Kicks."

He moved to Sri Lanka in his later life and wrote travel guides and fiction.

He lived with his family in Pinner, England until the age of sixteen, at which point he quit school to become a writer.

He was a friend of singer-songwriter John Lennon and was an inspiration for the Beatles' song "Paperback Writer."
