ABOUT RUBY FLORENCE MURRAY
Northern Irish singer who had ten hits on the UK Singles Chart in the 1950s. She made pop chart history in 1955 by havingĀ five hits in the Top Twenty in a single week.
She started performing appearing on TV at the age of 12, but still finished her primary education.
Her popularity led her name to become part of Cockney rhyming slang as a word for "curry".
She and her husband Bernie Burgess had two children: Julie and Tim.
She appeared in her only film role alongside Frankie Howerd in A Touch of the Sun.
