ABOUT RUDOLFS BLAUMANIS
A master of Latvian realism, he is known for his plays, poems, and translations, as well as for his journalistic work. He published his debut work in the German language; one of his later works, In the Lap of Happiness, was translated into English.
He worked as a journalist and critic for several German and Latvian newspapers.
He lived and worked in St. Petersburg, Russia.
He grew up in the Ergli municipality of Latvia.
He and Romain Gary were both famous writers from Latvia.
