Rudy Meoli

ABOUT RUDY MEOLI

Former infielder best known for his 6-season career in the MLB. He has played for the Los Angeles Angels , the Chicago Cubs , and the Philadelphia Phillies until his retirement in 1979.

After graduating from Royal Oak High School in Covina, CA, he was selected by the Los Angeles Angels in the 4th round of the 1969 MLB draft. He went on to play a late-season MLB trial in 1971 and became a utility infielder for the Angels in 1973.

After spending part of the 1974 season in Triple-A Minor League, he spent the majority of the remaining decade playing for minor league teams such as the San Diego Padres and the Cincinnati Reds . He returned to the MLB in 1978, as a utility man for the Cubs and Phillies.

He was born and raised in Troy, New York.

During the early weeks of his 1973 season with the California Angels, he backed up former teammate Bobby Valentine as shortstop.
