ABOUT RUHAMA SHITRIT

Israeli recipe creator, foodie, food enthusiast, online content creator, and social media personality who has gained fame for her Instagram, ruhamasfood, where she posts middle-eastern cooking reels. Her Instagram has over 550,000 followers.

She started posting to Instagram in 2011, but gained a following in September 2023 for posting Israeli dishes in the wake of the Hamas attack on Israel. 
Born into an Iraqi family, both of her parents cooked often. Her mother Carmela was known for chicken with turmeric and potatoes and her meatballs.

Her recipes include One Pan Chicken and Ptitim (Israeli couscous), roasted cauliflower with green tahini, mediterranean grilled cod and many more. While her father also found time to cook, making the Iraqi Shabbat breakfast known as sabich.

Her husband, Yossi, was offered a tech job in Boston in 2007 so the family packed up their lives in Haifa and moved to the U.S. Their plan was to come to the U.S. for only two or three years, but they decided to stay. She is a mother of four children.

As a recipe creator and Middle Eastern food influencer, her content is comparable to Farah Merhi and Abir El Saghir .
