ABOUT RUTH PERRY
Liberian politician who was the Chairwoman of the Council of the State of Liberia from 1996 to 1997. She helped heal her country in the aftermath of the First Liberian Civil War.
She graduated from the Teachers College of the University of Liberia, and then worked as an elementary school teacher.
She was the first female president of Liberia.
She married McDonald Perry and they had seven children together.
She and Joyce Banda both served as presidents of African countries.
