ABOUT SAKI
Remembered for such satirical and humorous short stories as "The Interlopers," "The Schartz-Metterklume Method," and "Tobermory," he also co-wrote a play titled The Watched Pot. Born Hector Hugh Munro, he wrote under the pen name of Saki.
In the early 1890s, he served in Burma as a member of the Indian Imperial Police.
He was killed in France during World War I after being hit by an enemy bullet.
Born in British-controlled Burma, he grew up in Devon, England, following his mother's 1872 death.
He was a contemporary of American short story writer O. Henry and their work is often compared.
