ABC broadcast journalist who won a News & Documentary Emmy Award for Outstanding Long Form Live Coverage of a Current News Story and interviewed many powerful people. He was co-anchor on the ABC program, This Week.

He served in the United States Army as an artillery officer.

For 40 years he was been ABC's Whitehouse correspondent. He served with ABC News from 1967 until 2009.

He married Jan Smith in 1983 and he has four children.

He covered the Lewinsky scandal and the impeachment of President Bill Clinton .
