ABOUT SAM MUCHNICK
Professional wrestling promoter who was a major player in the establishment of the National Wrestling Alliance and served as the NWA president.
He covered baseball and wrestling for the St. Louis Times newspaper.
He was inducted into the Professional Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum in 2003 and the NWA Hall of Fame in 2005.
He was born in the Ukraine and later moved to St. Louis in 1911.
He has been compared to Pete Rozelle in terms of what they did for their respective sports of wrestling and football.
