Sam Sniderman
ABOUT SAM SNIDERMAN
Entrepreneur who founded Sam the Record Man, a Canadian chain of record stores. He also established the Juno Awards, honors given annually to Canadian musicians.
He grew up in the Kensington Market neighborhood of Toronto, Ontario. He opened his first record store in Toronto in 1959.
In 1997, he became a member of the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame.
His son, Jason, held an executive position in the Sam the Record Man chain.
He and Virgin Records founder Richard Branson both established successful music store chains.
