She studied Human Kinetics at the University of British Columbia before transferring to the University of Guelph. Her professional debut was on November 12, 2022.

She is fluent in Persian. In just her fourth pro-fight, she was able to claim the WBA female World light-flyweight title after beating defending champion Guadalupe Bautista on April 27, 2024. Her victory made her the fastest professional world champion in Canadian boxing history.

Her parents emigrated to Canada from Iran, and her grandparents were from Sierra Leone. She married her coach, Steve Bailey, in 2016. Her younger brother Sasan, who was also a boxer, died in 2023.
