ABOUT SATYENDRA NATH BOSE
A physicist known for his work in quantum mechanics and for providing the foundation for Bose-Einstein statistics, which describe the interactions of particles at thermodynamic equilibrium. The particle class known as bosons were named in his honor by Paul Dirac .
He scored in the MSc mixed mathematics exam set long-standing records at the University of Calcutta.
He was the General President of the Indian Science Congress and he became a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1958.
He was one of 7 children born to his parents, and the only boy.
He and chess Grandmaster Viswanathan Anand were both honored with the title of Padma Vibhushan, the second-highest civilian award given by the Indian government.
