The music industry's number-one enemy after he co-founded the popular peer-to-peer file-sharing program Napster.

He and Napster co-founder Shawn Fanning met in their early teens through the internet, where they discovered that they both shared a love of hacking.

He was heavily involved in the development of Facebook after Napster and invested in the music-streaming service Spotify.

He and wife Alexandra Lenas had their first child together, a daughter, in early 2013. They had a son in 2014.

He was played by Justin Timberlake in The Social Network, the popular Aaron Sorkin film about the development of Facebook.
