ABOUT SEKOU SUNDIATA
African-American spoken-word poet and playwright whose best-known works include Blessing the Boats and the 51st (dream) state. The former work deals with heroin addiction; the latter responds to the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
He graduated from both the City College of New York and the City University of New York.
His spoken-word recording, The Blue Oneness of Dreams, was nominated for a Grammy Award.
He grew up in Harlem, and his birth name was Robert Franklin Feaster.
He toured with singer Ani Difranco in 2001.
