Sfiso Ncwane
ABOUT SFISO NCWANE
South African gospel icon, producer, and philanthropist who found commercial success with albums including "Bayede Baba" and "Wethembekile Baba." In 2013, his multi-platinum hit "Kulungile Baba" won Record of the Year at the 19th South African Music Awards.
He began singing in church when he was only 8 years old and went on to teach himself to play various instruments. He started his career by performing at community events like weddings and funerals before performing with professional groups such as New Edition and One Touch in the 1990s.
His debut hit, "Phakama Nkosi yeZulu" was released under his own label, Sfiso Ncwane Productions, and subsequently went platinum. He established the Sfiso Ncwane Bursary Foundation, through which he donated school uniforms and educational materials to underserved rural children and donated funds to Johannesburg orphanages.
He shared two children named Ngcweti and Umawenzokuhle with his wife, Ayanda Ncwane, whom he married in 2002.
He and Benjamin Dube are both popular gospel singers from South Africa.
