Shahidullah Kaiser
ABOUT SHAHIDULLAH KAISER
A Bangladeshi writer and journalist, he was assassinated along with other intellectuals during the Bangladesh Liberation War. His best-known literary works include Sareng Bau (The Captain's Wife) and Sangshaptak (The Indomitable Soldiers).
He earned a degree in economics from Presidency College, Kolkata. He joined the East Pakistani Communist Party in the late 1940s.
A key figure in the Bangladesh Language Movement, he won the prestigious Bangla Academy Award in 1962.
He and his wife, Panna Kaiser, had a daughter named Shomi.
He was the brother of novelist and filmmaker Zahir Raihan .
