ABOUT SHINKICHI TAJIRI

Dutch-American sculptor of Japanese ancestry who also painted and was active in cinematography. He made The Knot, located in Rotterdam.

He grew up in a working-class neighborhood of Los Angeles.

He won a Golden Palm at Cannes for his first short film, The Vipers.

He was the fifth of seven children born to Ryukichi Tajiri and Fuyo Kikuta.

He met Karel Appel while he was in Paris.
