Shinnosuke Ogasawara

ABOUT SHINNOSUKE OGASAWARA

Major league pitcher that was originally signed by the Washington Nationals on a multi-year deal in January 2025. Prior to his MLB career, he played baseball professionally in the Japanese Nippon Professional Baseball league. While in the NPB he played for the Chunichi Dragons.

As a teenager, he was given the opportunity to pitch for the Japanese youth national team. Following his last year of high school, he was selected with the first overall pick in the 2015 NPB Draft.

Besides playing baseball, he also has a passion for wrestling. He is a huge fan of Tatsumi Fujinami .

He was born and raised in the Japanese city of Fujisawa. His first name was actually given to him by his grandfather.

He credits Tsuyoshi Shinjo for being one of his biggest baseball influences while coming up.
