ABOUT SHINOHARA RYOKO
Japanese actress and pop singer who scored a number one hit with her 1994 single "Itoshisa to Setsunasa to Kokoro Zuyosa to." She gained fame as a television actress with her starring role in the drama series Unfair. She has also earned acclaim for her roles in films like Sakura Guardian in the North and The House Where the Mermaid Sleeps.
Her debut single, "Koi wa Chanson," was released in 1991.
She received the Hochi Film Award for Best Actress for her acting performances in The House Where the Mermaid Sleeps and Sunny: Our Hearts Beat Together. Her performance in Sakura Guardian in the North earned her a nomination for a Japan Academy Film Prize.
She was married to actor Masachika Ichimura from 2005 to 2021. She has two children.
Sayuri Yoshinaga was her co-star in Sakura Guardian in the North.
