ABOUT SHIRLEY STRONG

Sprinter who won a silver medal in the 100M hurdles at the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles.

She began her national career in 1977, and finished second in the 100M hurdles at the UK Athletics Championship and AAA Championship.

She won a gold medal in the 100M hurdles at the 1982 Commonwealth Games in Brisbane.

After retiring she raised two daughters in Holmes Chapel, Cheshire.

She and Sally Pearson both made their name in the 100M hurdles event.
