Shoni Schimmel

ABOUT SHONI SCHIMMEL

Professional women's basketball point guard who was named MVP of the 2014 WNBA All-Star game as a member of the Atlanta Dream. She won a gold medal representing the United States at the World University Games.

She was a phenom at the University of Louisville, twice being named to the All-Big East Conference First Team.

Her upbringing on the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation and subsequent rise to basketball stardom became the subject of the documentary "Off the Rez."

Her sister, Jude Schimmel , has also played college basketball for the Louisville Cardinals.

She and center Stefanie Dolson were both taken in the first round of the 2014 WNBA Draft.
