American rapper who has become known for his socially-conscious rhymes as a member of groups like Sole and the Skyrider Band and Deep Puddle Dynamics. He is one of the eight co-founders of the underground record label Anticon.
He began performing at local open mics as a teenager. He recorded his first demo in 1992 and created 45 Below Records at age fifteen.

His real name is James Timothy Holland, Jr. His cousin inspired him to start writing rhymes.
