ABOUT SOLIMAN GAMIL
Composer who rose to prominence in the 1970s and 1980s for his work with the qanun player.
He began forming his own unique blend of music while experimenting with traditional Egyptian instruments in the early 1960s.
He was hired by the Al-Ahram newspaper to write about music.
He married Eliyason Gamil in 1949. He had a son named Wafer and a daughter named Serenade.
His composing career took off around the same time as that of Indian composer Ravi Shankar .
