Known best for his membership in the boy band Beast, this South Korean pop vocalist and dancer also released several solo tracks, including the chart-topping 2010 single "Udon."

His first album with Beast, Beast is the B2ST, was released in 2009. The recording included the hit single "Bad Girl."

An instrumentalist as well as a vocalist, he learned to play the piano, violin, and electric flute.

He grew up in Busan, South Korea, and later studied film at Konkuk University. His father, Son Il-rak, had a career as a Cheongju University professor.

He and Jang Hyun-seung were both members of Beast.
