He was sent to a martial arts school when he was 9 years old. He began training in mixed martial arts when he was 13 and made his professional debut at only 15.

He has received numerous accolades in mixed martial arts, including Performance of the Night from the Ultimate Fighting Championship and 1st place in the 2011 Hebei Provincial Sanda Championship.

He was raised by a single mother. He is married and has a son.
