81st Governor of Georgia who served in that position from 2003 until 2011. He was a member of the Republican Party during his tenure as Governor.

He was a high school quarterback, an Air Force captain, a veterinarian, and small business owner before turning to politics.

He served as a Georgia State Senator from 1991 until 2001.

He married Mary Ruff in 1972 and they had four children together.

He had a cameo appearance in the Matthew McConaughey starring film We Are Marshall.
