Spencer Schwellenbach
ABOUT SPENCER SCHWELLENBACH
Major league starting pitcher, athlete, and baseball player that was originally taken as a second round pick by the Atlanta Braves during the second round of the 2021 MLB draft. Prior to being drafted, he played college baseball at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln . He stands six feet, one inch tall and weighs approximately 200 pounds.
He was a two-sport athlete while at Heritage High School. In addition to baseball, he also played soccer while in high school.
He made his official major league debut while pitching against the Washington Nationals on May 29, 2024. Unfortunately, he lost his MLB debut with a score of 7-2. As a junior at Nebraska, he was named the Big Ten Player of the Year and he was named the recipient of the John Olerud Two-Way Player of the Year award.
Growing up, he lived with his family in Saginaw, Michigan. He is one of four siblings.
He played alongside alongside Ozzie Albies and Austin Riley during his major league debut.
