Stephen Thorsett
ABOUT STEPHEN THORSETT
American astronomer and academic who studied gamma ray bursts and radio pulsars. His research help test the theory of general relativity.
He studied mathematics at Minnesota's Carleton College and later received his Ph.D. in physics from Princeton University.
He taught at the University of California, Santa Cruz and later became president of Willamette University.
He and his twin brother, David, were the sons of Karen Thorsett and biology professor Grant Thorsett.
He was the recipient of a Robert Millikan physics research fellowship at Caltech following his graduation from Princeton.
