Former MLB catcher, mostly for the Cleveland Indians who became a very successful manager after his playing career.
He broke into the majors with the Cleveland Naps in 1911.
He won a World Series with the Detroit Tigers in 1945.
He had four brothers who all played baseball as well.
He coached Hall of Famer Hal Newhouser on the Detroit Tigers from 1943 to 1948.
