ABOUT STEVEN LINDSEY

NASA administrator and astronaut who commanded the last flight of the Space Shuttle Discovery. From 2006-2009, he held the position of Chief of the NASA Astronaut Office.

Prior to beginning his NASA career, he served in the United States Air Force.

He flew on five Space Shuttle missions, piloting two and serving as Commander on three.

He married Diane Trujillo and had three children.

He was nicknamed "Pinto" because of his resemblance to Tom Hulce , who played the role of Pinto in the classic film Animal House.
