ABOUT SUNNY VARKEY

Entrepreneur, businessman, and philanthropist who is best known for being the founder and executive chairman of the educational management firm GEMS Education. The company is under the umbrella of his Varkey Group organization.

As a child, he was a student at the Infant Jesus Anglo-Indian Boys' School.

He was honored with the Global Indian Business Award in the year 2007. In the year 2018, The Asian Awards named him Entrepreneur of the Year. In the year 1984, Varkey founded Welcare, a healthcare consultancy and management venture which developed a number of hospitals and clinics.

He has two sons named Dino and Jay.

He and fellow entrepreneur Ratan Tata were both born in India.
