ABOUT SUZY MCKEE CHARNAS

American author known for her sci-fi and fantasy stories, the most notable being her four-volume story The Holdfast Chronicles. The last installment of the chronicles, "The Conqueror's Child," was published in 1999 and is considered by many to be her best work.

She received her undergraduate degree from Barnard College , majoring in Economics and History.

She won several awards for her work, including the Hugo Award, James Tiptree Jr. Award, and the Nebula Award.

She was born into a family of artists. Her parents divorced when she was a child and she helped her mother raise her younger sister.

She considered Ursula K. Leguin a major inspiration for some of her work.
