Syed Qasim Mahmood

ABOUT SYED QASIM MAHMOOD

Pakistani intellectual, editor, and author who wrote short stories and novels and compiled Urdu-language encyclopedias. He also edited numerous magazines, including Qafla (Caravan), Pakistan Digest, and Siara Digest.

He held numerous odd jobs in his younger years, working for a time as both a woodcutter and a newspaper seller in the bazaars.

He edited nine scientific and literary magazines and published more than two hundred books over the course of his career.

He married Syeda Shamiam Gillani in 1967. The couple raised two sons and two daughters.

He and Musharraf Farooqi were both celebrated Pakistani authors.
