Nicknamed "T-Bone," he pitched in the big leagues from 1956 to 1963 for several teams, including the Philadelphia Phillies and Chicago Cubs .

Prior to joining the MLB, he served in the military.

His MLB career began in 1956 with the Milwaukee Braves.

He was born in Atlanta, Georgia.

Hall of Fame pitcher Robin Roberts was his teammate on the Phillies.
