Ted Berrigan

ABOUT TED BERRIGAN

Poet who earned the attention of Frank O'Hara and other prominent authors with his 1964 publication of The Sonnets. His other works include Living With Chris, A Feeling for Leaving, and The Drunken Boat.

He received a degree in English from the University of Tulsa.

He died in 1983 from cirrhosis of the liver.

He had two children with his first wife and fellow poet, Sandy Berrigan. His second wife, Alice Notley , was also a poet.

He collaborated with fellow New York School poet Ron Padgett on two poetic works: Bean Spasms (published in 1967) and Back in Boston Again (published in 1972).
