ABOUT TED JOANS
Jazz poet, musician, and surrealist artist whose painting "Bird Lives" was showcased at San Francisco's De Young Museum. His literary works include Afrodisia, The Truth, and Flying Piranha.
He studied fine arts at Indiana University. He published his debut poetic work, Funky Jazz Poems, in 1959.
He lived and worked in Berlin, Germany in the early 1980s.
He was the father of ten children. His daughter Daline was named after his artistic idol Salvador Dali .
He was a friend of Beat poet Allen Ginsberg .
