ABOUT TETSUTO YAMADA

Olympic gold medalist and professional second baseman that was originally signed by the Tokyo Yakult Swallows of the Japanese NPB league in the year 2011. Since then, he has won a Japan Series Championship and has been listed as a Central League MVP. He is also a multi-time NPB All-Star, and a Best Nine Award winner.

He first discovered his passion for baseball as a young boy in elementary school. Many years later, he become a first-round pick in the 2010 NPB draft.

He has won three different gold medals as a member of the Japanese men's national team. Some were awarded during the 2023 World Baseball Classic and the 2020 Summer Olympics. Due to his performance in the 2020 Olympics, he was named Most Valuable Player by the Olympics committee.

He grew up living with his family in Toyooka, Japan.

He won a gold medal while playing alongside Masataka Yoshida as a member of Team Japan during the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
