ABOUT THOMAS F. FORD

American politician from California known for being the only person ever elected to the Los Angeles City Council by a write-in vote.

He moved to Los Angeles in 1904 and became the West Coast correspondent for the Washington Post and the literary editor of the Los Angeles Times.

He supported desegregation and the establishment of a public works program for the unemployed.

He married Lillian Cope Cummings in 1911, and they published a book together called The Foreign Trade of the United States in 1920.

He served in Congress during the term of Franklin D. Roosevelt .
