German-born actor who appeared in the critically-acclaimed movie Downfall and played Captain Englehorn in the 2005 remake of King Kong. As a voice actor, he portrayed Professor Z in Cars 2.

He trained to become an Olympic swimmer prior to pursuing a career in acting.

He has played a WWII German Army officer in ten different films.

He began dating actress Brittany Rice in 2011.
